Junk in the Yard: Day Twelve – The Sin of Greed

Welcome, brothers and sisters, to our Lenten series entitled ‘Junk in the Yard.’ Today, we delve into the sin of greed and explore a characteristic of a greedy person: a search for compulsive gratification that leads to sadness. Jesus taught, ‘Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.’ If material goods become the most important aspect of your life, you’ll crave, desire, and long for them, but find no true contentment. Greed leaves the heart lonely and abandoned, always wanting more, yet never satisfied. Instead of seeking gratification in earthly things, find comfort in the spiritual. Serve others with love, knowing that in them, you serve Christ. Let us ask the Lord to help us find happiness in giving rather than receiving and to have a generous heart in sharing. God bless you on this Lenten journey.
