Welcome to Day One of our Lenten Reflections series, “Junk in the Yard”. As we journey through this series, we will be exploring the sin of Pride from various perspectives.
Today, we delve into a significant element of Pride that traces back to the Garden of Eden. Despite the freedom Adam and Eve were given, they desired independence and transgressed God’s command by eating from the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil. This act of defiance was born out of Pride, a desire to be independent and not consult with God.
This episode explores the dangers of Pride, from the betrayal of Jesus Christ by Judas, who did not seek Jesus’s advice or share his conflicting thoughts, to the pitfalls of believing we know it all. We discuss how Pride can lead us into temptation and the importance of consulting with God and seeking advice from those who are more knowledgeable or spiritually discerning.
Join us as we reflect on the sin of Pride, its manifestations, and its consequences. Let’s clear the junk in our yard together. Stay tuned for the next seven episodes as we continue to explore Pride from different angles.
